Plants and animals regularly cross into Bream Head Scenic Reserve and are a key threat to our native wildlife. It's important that the people living on and looking after the land, understand our neighbours and all work together for the best collective outcomes.
The most important reason to keep pets out of the Reserve is to keep our endangered species thriving and our pets safe.
The sight, sounds and smells of domestic animals can distress our wildlife. They may cause wildlife to leave their site, and leave their young unprotected. Your pet can also spread diseases that our local wildlife may not have been exposed to before and therefore have no protection against.
We do not want loved pets to get hurt in a trap or by consuming predator control toxin.
To help us keep your pet safe, please always keep your pet under control and make sure it is microchipped and registered. The rangers keep a voluntary cat register, so we can contact the owner when their cat shows up on one of our many cameras in the Reserve. The rangers also have access to a microchip reader.
Keep in mind that even well-fed animals can cause harm.
