This report covers August and September 2024. Key points:
The focus during August and September was the 1080 operation.
Uptake of pre-feed was around 98% reserve wide before the 1080 operation.
Uptake of 1080 overall was between 15–20%.
Reserve-wide tracking of rodents dropped from 20% rats and 53% mice in May to 2% rats and 20% mice in September, most likely due to the 1080 operation done over July and August.
We are short of conclusive evidence that there has been effective secondary kills of all mustelids.
We have some different trapping methods in the works that involve live capturing using nodes and different lures.
Over August and September 2024, there were zero possums captured on the camera network.
During the annual post re-introduction bird survey, 9 pōpokotea/whiteheads and 16 toutouwai/North Island robins were detected.
Moth plant and climbing asparagus have been the focus of pest plants as we try to break their seeding cycles.
